I want to make a Jacobsen with a Peerless 2300 into a "sleeper" to pull with. My question is how much hp can a Peerless withstand safely. It'd be just for fun so I don't want to have to fix the rearend.

Not sure, but there are Peerless manuals in the manuals section that might give you some specs. One clue is to look at the tractors that have used that rear end. I think JD used it in the 200's up to the 16hp k341 powered 216.  Not sure if it was ever used in a twin cylinder tractor. My worry would be more about the condition of that individual transaxle. If it is worn and has loose bearings etc it won't hold up to pulling for long.

Tranny needs a new rebuild eventually but I'm worried about gears, etc.(pretty much expensive stuff and unavailable stuff)
