Was at the scrap yard today and I saw to beat up Bolens, a G10 and a G12, pretty rough for restore in my book, but I will be grabbing the G10 this week to rob the wheels and tires (8.50 ags), plus the starter generator off of. Anyone going to need anything, or should I take it back when I am done pulling what I want?

Where are you located? I might be interested in the trans if you are close to me. otherwise I could probably use some smaller stuff off of them. Mufflers, steering parts, etc.

By the way, that G12 almost looks saveable.

I am fairly confident right now that both have Techumsehs. I know the G12 I read an HH on the engine and the G10 looks pretty much the same, so whatever. I may grab them both and if they turn over and I can get them to run and move beat the crap out of the fenders until they are usable and then just have them LOL. Definitely wanting the G10 though, sorta cool, but I will have to grab an extra chassis or 2 seen in the background for steering wheels and in case the trannys are the reason the tractors are in the scrap yard to start with!!!

Went back to the scrap yard today and loaded up both the G10 and G12 as well as a Bolens front snow blade, front axle assembly, and a small trailer axle (perfect for garden trailer). I even grabbed the seat off that late model mower in one of the pics. I did not bother grabbing any of the other bolens chassis stuff because all the other transmissions had cover plates off or were gutted, plus the other steering wheels were junk too. Anyway, weighed 1500 pounds and cost me 273 bucks. the G12 has no carb on it and the rear fenders were so rotted and beat to hell I left them at the scrap yard. anyway, what does anyone think now?

I think you did alright and you will have a lot of usable parts. It is a shame that people let these old garden tractors go like that and haul em off to scrap.

I am going to attempt to get one of them operational, Bolens 1000 said that they were "only" part tractors so I took that as a challenge. Not sure if either engine turns over yet but I figure on only fixing up one to begin with... starting with the one that turns over, and if they both do, the g10 will be the test, but if I find a carb in my stuff that will fit on a 12 hp I will try the G12 too. Anyone have any suggestions as to what the look for first on these Bolens as to whether they will even work??
