Cub Cadet Crank Shaft Issues

I'm trying too rebuild my cub cadet 102 10hp engine and i need a new crank shaft. Does any one know if i can use a crank shaft out of 12hp kohler in a 10hp block if i get it bored out to 12 or 13hp. I want to know

What is wrong with your crank?  Maybe it can be fixed.  You can by undersized connecting rods and have the crank polished, if that is the issue.  If it is chipped, you might be able to get it welded & ground.

Welcome to the fourm, those K block Kohlers are good engines.

I second the over size rod, cap and regrind the crank pin, while your there check the piston and rings.

Have a look in the manuals section under engines-Kohler and you will find an engine rebuilding guide for K series as well as some documents on crankshafts. You may find the info. you need there.

I've heard of boring 10s to 12s and swapping cranks and such.. I think I have a good crank for a 10 if needed

I see you forgot the flywheel nut being broke off in the original posting.

12-18 is same stroke.. 10 is smaller.. Bore is smaller in 10 then a 12..
