Found a Bolens G174 online for what seems like a good price-- a little south of $2,000 for the tractor with no attachments--does have a Class 1 3 point hitch.  The 3-digit meter shows 380 hours; the tin work is not real pretty, but it supposedly runs well.  Tires are about 50-60%. The serial number is 016600 or thereabouts.

Anyone know what year the machine is?

In 1981 I think it was they switched from the 2 cylinder Mitsi KE75 engine to the 3 cylinder K3B.

Are parts still fairly available--especially things like clutch parts, water pumps, starters, engine gaskets, etc.?

I'm looking for a compact or subcompact machine.  It's in Minnesota... if freight prices aren't too bad, it'd be worth it to buy and put a loader on here-- maybe even build my own.

I'd appreciate any input.

A picture may help narrow it down if it still has original paint and Decals

With the serial number being the first of that series I'd say it would be anywhere around 1978-1981

It seems like there are still a decent amount of parts available but it takes some effort to track them down

I have been able to find parts for my G152 KB2 equipped unit without problems. Clutch is available, water pumps are on Ebay all the time, and Amazon. Most common item, besides the alternator. I think Don Campbell had a hard time tracking down a replacement block for his K3, but a full rebuild kit was available.

No idea on the year, it would be nice if Midwest had a pic posted. The decal color and arrangement can narrow down the year range.

I paid south of $2,000 for my 15 hp geared 2wd Iseki with no major mechanical issues. It included the factory tiller, snowblower, mower deck, front lift kit, hydraulic lift kit, and the front/mid pto kit. Mine was missing the 3 point arms.

I can't post a picture 'cause it's at a dealer and is water marked by the online site I saw it on.  The Paint is white with a green decal--2 tone green I believe... don't know if that helps.

The two tone green makes it later than 1978. Being the 3 cylinder makes it post-1980. If it has the model # and a 4x4 sticker on the sheet metal on the radiator sides it is post-1981.

I'm not sure if it's a 3 cylinder or not.  The end of the hood has been patched so I can't tell if there was a sticker there or not.  Here's a slice of the decal...Bolens G174 Hood Section.jpg

There are a few pictures on Tractorhouse.com  It's at Midwest tractor in St Charles, MN
