I was at a friends house the other day (old family friend that my mom went to school with) and I had seen he has a Bolens garden tractor sitting out in the weeds/scrap pile.

This was his sons and he use to mow with it until he broke the mower deck belt and then they couldn't find another one so they parked it.

I'm thinking about asking him if he would sell it, I am needing a good decent lawn mower because my mower is newer and junk.

Is there anyway to get a belt for it? I would think there would be someplace that would sell a belt that size and I figure maybe someone on here could help.

I am not sure of the model, it is on the bigger side with the side mount muffler. It looked like the picture I found, but like I said I'm not positive on what it really was.

I just know that it was a bolens with that grill style and muffler style.

I know nothing about bolens, but I do know that this one did look stout!

Thanks for any info

If the one you are looking at has the green decals then it would be an HT23 of possibly an HT20D.

Either would be nice to have.  Belts for the mower deck are no problem.

Pics of the actual tractor would be best if we are to help you identify it.

Sure, I can't see why you couldn't find a belt for it.  Its a Bolens, they still make belts that will fit. Bolens are good tractors.  Find out what model it is.

I'll try to find more info on it, It is in a little rougher shape because it's been sitting for quite a few years in the weather.

I do know it has the 2cyl engine if that makes any difference.

Thanks

Like OldBuzzard said, you should have no trouble finding belts.   You should be able to find just about anything for it, maybe used parts if you have to.  If I could get it for a good price I would get it if its in pretty good shape.  Older Bolens are good tractors, better then the new crap they sell today. Get the model # and some pictures, lots of guys have Bolens that can tell you more then I can about them.  Good Luck

That is a heck of a find. Once you get a large Bolens working right, all others seem too light. Do not wait. Call and ask before it is scrapped. Good Luck, Rick

Being a 2-cyl narrows it down.

That means that it's a Large Frame 1886, HT18, HT20, or HT23.  All great tractors with the Kohler K series opposed twin cyl engine.

Thanks for the info, I'll see what I can find out about it.

I did look up the models that "Oldbuzzard" posted and I am positive it is the HT20.

It has the same "Bolens" printed on the upper grill between the headlights (with no green) but that's about all I saw.

I'll keep everyone posted
Thanks again for the info

That would be a nice find.

I have an older neighbor up the road that has two big bolens in his garage, uses one to mow with, other has snow plow. I need to stop and talk to him one of these day, they are definitely well maintained and in great condition.
