Great video Brian. Thanks for sharing it with us. The 1050 did a wonderful job. George already posted about our teaser snow, but it was a good excuse to get the tractors out of the garage and at least give them some exercise.

Is there a way you can get a video of what it sounds like.... You may need a simple needle valve adjustment. Sometimes in the cold these engines need an adjustment

Check your points also.... That could be a cause of rough idle

I adjusted the carb and cant get it to run smoth throughout the throttle sweep. Probably does need points and that old wisonsin is probably on its last leg. my dad and I bought it in pretty rough shape about 17yrs ago and fixed it up. We've used it ever since and the motor hasnt been rebuilt yet!

If you dont mind telling me brian, where did you get your parts?, how much did they cost roughly? did you do machine work? and did you do the motor disassembly and assembly yourself?

I got the parts from Fox Equipment Corp Home Page right here in west Seneca.

I did all the work myself. Except for them resurfacing my exhaust valve and putting in the valve seat.

Rings run around $30
Valves are around $15 each
Valve seat $4
Valve guides $8 for both
I had about $30 in labor (valve resurfacing/ put in new valve seat/ cut the valves) I mainly have them do this because I dont have the proper tools for that work.

...and then adding the cost of the NOS connecting rod I got on ebay
I think I had around $120 in the engine Total.
If you got to Fox ask for Aaron. He's very helpful. The other guys sort of have an attitude LOL.

Yea, guys with attitude dont get my business. Thats why both my 1050's didnt get there motors rebuilt. If you remember @ april last year I ordered all the parts to rebuild both motors from sonny's. I waited a month before I started calling to find out what happened to my parts and why I didnt get them yet. He never answered any calls, returned calls, or even returned emails. So I got mad and sent a email basically telling him to cancel my order, and destroy my credit card info, and if anything was sent or charged to me I would dispute it and get my money refunded. The place had terrible customer service, he finally emailed back and basically gave me a hardtime because I canceled my order. I will haft to try some engine work, Ive worked on cars, but never had a small engine apart. I just want to get the old 1050 through the winter for now!

Yeah Sonny's site is pretty much done for. Sonny's sun has been running the business into the ground. he just dosent have the interest. The site has not been updated in almost 2 1/2 years.

I wouldnt say they all have a bad attitude...Its just mainly the 2 other guys. Aaron is great.
