I'm thinking about putting an electric actuator on my beefed up Sears dump cart:

Has anybody here done this?  If so, what size actuator did you use?  Any pics of your mounting?

My tongue is already beefed up:

I plan to put a plate under the bed for the lift bracket.

Any good ideas?  Thanks!  ~~  Lowell

Burdens Surplus Center has lots of choices. I would mount it in the front the way that most big dump trucks are. Take pics to show us what you come up with. Good Luck, Rick

What is the distance from the tongue to the bed when It is dumping? That would tell you how much travel is needed. On my winch operated dump trailer, I have a 3-ton electric winch on it and it has a challenge when it is full of damp dirt!

Burdens is where I get most of that kind of supplies!

It will be a while before my shoulder heals enough so I can work on anything like this, but my mind (such as it is) wants to do something.   :D   ~~  Lowell

Sounds like a great project Lowell. I had a steel JD 10 cart at one point and put a ball hitch on it and stiffened the tongue in a similar way to what you've done. It would have been nice to have an electric dump on that cart. I used it to load and dump/spread 2 tandem truck loads of crushed rock back in 2005 when we built most of our back yard trails. All done with a shovel and rake.
