I think the caps were just decorative and really didnt serve a purpose since the metal cap was under it doing all the work....

Josh, the date on my briggs in the Big Ten is March 8, 1966.

 

Matt was right. The plastic caps were just decorative and pushed on over the metal hub caps. The parts list shows that the plastic caps  were on the late B-10 and B-12 also. I've not seen any plastic caps used on any of the early Simplicity models.

I've not seen any plastic caps used on any of the early Simplicity models.

My guess is that's because it because in my mind AC was a little more "flashy" gt.
