Most of you have probably seen that a big sink hole opened up in the middle of the sky dome at the Corvette museum in Bowling Green Ky, 8 Corvettes were swallowed up as sink hole developed. Probably close to a $1M worth of cars, I cried! :boo_hoo:

That sucks. I don't consider the millionth and the 1.5 millionth to be a big deal, it's just a number to me. The KOTH Spyder has to be one of only a handfull, though.

Learned something, too. I didn't know there was a surviving '83 around.

I hated to hear about the sinkhole.  Its a shame as its a really neat place to visit if your a car guy.  I wonder what the fix will be?    Can you fix a sinkhole?   :anvil_drop:

I see a discovery or history special coming on the recovery of these cars, actually I think it would make for some interesting tv.

I know a guy with a big picker truck up in Grand Prairie Alberta that could reach in and pick those cars up like tonka toys...  He got my Jeep Cherokee unstack 40 feet off the road...

Learned something, too. I didn't know there was a surviving '83 around.

I knew of that one, but after reading some other sutff lately, there actually maybe more. The made 45 originally, but due to new California emissions, they didn't meet regs so they were supposed to be all dis-mantled. The emloyees of the plant took this one and kept hiding it around plant until the okay was given to start production in 84.  Supposedly all were dismantled except this one, but rumors are a GM official owns one and there are a handful of '84 models that were built in early 83. So these cars may have been put in storage and then new VIN's made to make them '84 models.

Its sad lets hope the cars can be fixed...

Maybe the 3 you can see can be repaired, but I doubt the ones underneath the rock pile will be salvageable.

I worked on few sink hole repairs. Most of the time its a result of a busted water line and poor soil (limestone). At least it was vettes and not mustangs!
