I got a second diesel engine thrown in the deal when I picked up the Kubota engine yesterday. It has been painted over heavily and I don't see any markings or casting marks anywhere. I have no idea what brand it is. Anyone have any clues?? I will take more pictures if needed.

Brian, I see some numbers on the side of the block. Could you snap a picture or 2 of those? Not sure if youd be able to take a wire brush to the top of the pump, usually theres a model number casted on there like the kubotas use. Im gonna either a caterpillar, shibraru, perkins heck maybe even a duetz?

I think NBENT is right. Could be that very rare and Highly sought Ford Ranger Diesel?

It's not from a Ford Ranger. The Rangers had a 4 cylinder Perkins engine I believe.

I don't think it's Perkins/Shibaura, but what I wanna know is if it was thrown in the deal for no extra $'s!

It cost me an extra $100.00 if it will run.

Here's a few photos of the block numbers and pump tag.

Attached File  Isuzu 2AA1 to 3AB1 Workshop Manual.pdf   5.07MB   32 downloads

I lean to Isuzu as well.  Here is a manual for the 2 & 3 cylinder Isuzu diesels.  See if you can make it out well enough to identify it by this manual.  Has sorry pics though.

This engine is out of a Refer unit, but it was also used in these tractors,

Looks like a good boat anchor to me and I am in dire need of one right now. Just ship it up to me. I'll pay the freight!

"Gutbrod" I can't believe someone would try and market something with a name like that hanging on it. That's worse than my last name.  :(
