We have folks who never got home and are still in their cars.  A 2-3" snow fall and the city is shut down and expressways are still parking lot's.  I can understand problems up north where they have blizzards but this should not have happened.  GDOT failed again to keep the interstates clear.  They are using the excuse that the storm wasn't supposed to come this far north but...

For me, I'm just enjoying a pretty white winter wonderland for a day or two.

Robert didn't get home till 9:30, so 10 1/2 hours to go just 30 miles!

He said he burned 1/2 a tank, so depending on what he's driving, likely at around 10 gallons, that would make it 3MPH AND 3MPG.

I really feel for him, cause I've been there and done that about 6-8 years ago.  3/4 inch of snow hit roads that were untreated and the Wake County DOT was just a bit too casual about getting out to clear the roads.  No-one realized that several days of sub-zero temps had cooled the roads enough to cause the snow to refreeze as ice when a car ran over it.  Awful gridlock that day, with people abandoning their cars on the road.

I suspect we ended up with 2.5 to 3.5 inches.  Just enough to do some sledding and have some fun.  Currently our roads are untreated and are starting to pack down and turn icy now that enough traffic has passed over them.

Looks like you were having a great time with the kid's.  Our granddaughter informed me she was to old for such foolishness!  Give her a couple of more years and she'll be back out there. :rocker2: :smilewink:

Wow, woke up to a mere 5 degrees this morning.  Not unheard of, but very unusual for this area.

Our neighborhood road is still covered in snow that has packed to ice, plus the 'more major' road at the entrance to our neighborhood is in the same condition.  I know yesterday I saw a number of people driving like the roads were dry, I have a hunch some folks are going to learn otherwise today.

This first pic is my driveway which I cleared yesterday with the Massey and blade.  As you can see, it is at least 300 inches long, so I felt it was important to get it cleared.  Also, the temperature this weekend will be around 45-50 or more, and if the snow melted my driveway would get all wet!

I have seen people up and down our two lane this morning. Gonna try to go into work. Just letting the sunshine on the roads for a few hours first.
