It's interesting to watch what other states do during cold or snow :smilewink:

We went from 69* to -2 and a windchill of -15 within 6 hours.

It's predicted we'll get about 1" sleet starting around noon then turning to snow after that. That should make a nice mess.

That will make a mess.  The worst snow we had in this area was supposed to start as about 1/2 inch of sleet, then change to snow.  It did start as sleet, but quickly changed to snow which upped the total snow.  Then, the low which was causing the snow actually managed to wrap moisture from the coast around and back down over us and snowfalls topped out depending where you were somewhere between 17 and 22 inches.

Woke up to snow falling, we already have a good dusting on the ground.  Guess I'll sit back with some hot chocolate and watch some movies and hang out here.  I'm one of those who will just let it melt.  We are supposed to be back into the 60's by the weekend.

PS:  Wake county school was canceled today because of this storm.  I've been telling my kids for the last 2 hours, they should have been in school!

Robert Webb  sent me a pic around 1pm of the highway after he left work below Birmingham, AL.  I didn't get a chance to reply till just after 4pm.  He left work at 11am and in those 5 hours, he had only made it about 5 miles down the road, and he still had 25 more miles to home!

I wish I could say the same.  We have about 2" but the real problem is that business's, government offices, and schools sent everyone home about the same time so all the streets and expressways are gridlocked!    People are running out of gas sitting in traffic.  Glad I'm retired and just stayed home and watched it on TV.

Has been sleeting at a rapid pace here for about an hour, supposed to change to snow at some point. The sleet is starting to collect on the grass and road......would rather it be snow!

The snow finally started misting in around 6 pm.  Three and one half hours later I think we are up to perhaps an inch, hard to say.  Pics:

Looks like 4-5" with maybe an 1" of sleet underneath - good day to do paperwork in my officea4y6umu6.jpg

Robert didn't get home till 9:30, so 10 1/2 hours to go just 30 miles!
