I am working on purchasing a Kubota 3 cyl. 23hp diesel. If I can snag it, I plan to stuff it into my parts Bush Hog JBI tractor. Had no plans for the old tractor, then diesel came to mind. I think it will fit easy enough, and being the tractor has had lots of cutting/welding done to it, it would be a perfect candidate. If it does happen, the tractor will see a lot of custom changes, mostly sheet metal.
I'll know soon if I get the engine....will keep you guys informed.

I found all the technical dimensions of this engine on the Kubota website, and it will fit the JB like a glove! Leaves 4" up front for the radiator, and plenty of side clearance, as well as all the air filter stuff on top should clear the hood. And if needed, I can easily raise the hood almost 2", just like I did on my JB that I repowered with the TJD Wisconsin engine. Only thing is getting it. It's on ebay & ends tomorrow night, on an industrial piece of equipment, so hoping nobody goes crazy bidding against me. If they do, I'll have to drop out, as I am really tapped out as it is, much less buying something else. But a diesel project is almost too good to pass up!

Sounds like a plan. Hope you are able to get the engine. I'll be interested in following your project if you get it.

If I get out bid, I won't be upset. It's one of those things I want....no true need. Can't afford it really, but even if I decided not to do the project & had the engine, I could always sell it................NOT!!!!!!!!!!

Oh well guys....................I GOT IT!!!!!!!!! I got the entire outfit for must $336! :dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana:
It's on an asphalt crack sealer machine. Has a large hydraulic pump, valving, filter assembly, oil cooler, and more that I can either use or sell to cover cost. The trailer is heavy duty as well. May have electric brakes. Hard to go wrong on it. Gotta see if I know someone with a pintle hitch to fit a 2" receiver, as that alone would cost me another $100. With fuel & eats, I'll have around $500 invested. I could scrap all but the engine components & get over half that back at least. I came VERY close to letting it go as I had been outbid. Very glad I bit the bullet! Another 500 mile round trip. Same guy I bought the T-63 Bush Hog tractor from. Here's the link to the ebay sale page for more pics.
