I bought a cub cadet original today. It has been sitting under a tarp since it was parked I think about 10 years ago because the clutch was slipping. Today wasn't the best day to choose to get it since the ground is completely frozen. We used some pipes and a piece of wood to get the tires and plow loose. We got it rolling and he put some air in the front tires and they filled right up. The steering and lift are frozen up and will need some work. The wiring harness appears to be in good condition and the engine will hopefully start easy since it ran when it was parked.

Nice Score.  Can't beat the old Cub's.  Looks like an early 1960's model by the look of the hood and seat.

Looks good so far.

You forgot to tell them you blew up the steering box and I'm still 40% owner, at least until you pay me back lol.

1961 , 62 or 63 ...need the hand stamped serial number off the transmission reduction housing to narrow down the month and year .  Looks pretty complete ,  and a snow blade to boot ....

From the looks of the pictures of all the snow on the ground , it looks like you need to get it up and running .

A couple of wheel weights with those Ag tires and you'll be surprised how much snow that little 7 hp. gear drive will push.

Nice Haul !!

Had some time to work on it today. The wiring harness is still together and the starter still works great. It doesn't have spark, the points are clean and I put a spare coil on that I know is good. I am thinking that maybe the key switch is bad, it still turns but the connections in it might be corroded like everything else.

Nice looking Cub.  A little work and you'll have it up and running in no time.

Had some more time today. I put a good condenser and another plug wire on today and still no spark. I sanded the connections were the condenser was bolted so that it would ground good. The one wire to the switch rotted off, so I  cut the end off and stuck it to the other wire, still no luck. I tried putting a hot wire to the coil and still wasn't getting spark. Does anyone have any suggestions on what might be wrong? I know the battery on it is bad so I have been running jumper cables from another tractor to try testing it, should I try putting a good battery on it and see if it works then?

I just looked and there are no wiring diagrams for this tractor. There is one manual with the light wiring diagram, but not the main wiring diagram. Does anyone have a diagram?
