I was plowing with the B80 and sadly she went belly up. She started knocking and I began to head home because I was plowing down the street. And BANG. it threw the rod. It didn't go through the block but the cylinder wall is so out of shape it would be better to get another engine. I liked the lil 8hp but it was slightly underpowered. I was thinking 10hp kohler? or even do huge with a 14hp briggs opposed? I don't know! the possibilities are endless!

Any suggestions appreciated!

Thanks all!

The k engine 10 or 12 should go in w/out any or few mods. Coils and regulaters won't be on that plate right behind engine like on the 8, but you can find places in dash like bigger C's have. 14 starts getting physically bigger and might be harder to put in. Battery tray issues maybe and not sure on hood clearance then. Don't think a twin is the answer and makes it harder with controls and such then too.

I have a wheel horse with a 14 hp kohler factory. I love it.  It came with a 36 inch deck and it mows anything.

While bigger is sexier, you have to consider how much torque your drive line will handle.  Too much engine and you'll have a B80 lawn ornament.

Yup,, the axle will likely be the favorite WH Unidrive but with 1" axles and 4 pinion diff,,,,, I have a 16hp K341 but I also have the 1 1/8 axles and 8 pinion diff.  I guess it depends on what you do with the machine,, an 8hp would be a real fuel mizer and have adequate power as a snow pusher or running a 36 deck,  I would think on rebuilding and know what you have rather than getting something unknown myself 2 hundy or so and you have a near new powerplant ready for another 40 yrs.

If you will need PTO power, don't forget how you plan to do that too...

Well you shouldn't put it in that B80... you should sell it to me real cheap.
