We laugh at these prices now but I hope it's not a sign of things to come.I hope our hobby doesn't go the way of the musclecar as I watched the Barrett Jackson auction last night and was amazed at some of the prices those cars were bringing!

Did they sell the IH scout with 22,000 miles? Would have loved to own it!

Interesting to see these random prices that are way out of the market. I wonder how they come up with them?

I missed that one but I wish I had seen it,scouts and the pickups were pretty popular in my area as I'm in farm country and IH had a good dealer presence here.

The one that really sticks in my mind was the 67 vette that brought $3,500,000!! :loosing_it:  and that's no typo!!

Seems way high but it's what it sells for that matters in the end. I'd love to have one of those but I'd have to travel a long way to get one and I'd never pay that kind of money for one.

But I have never seen guys "in the know" post prices like these. eBay has 2 bush hog D4-10's listed for $1200 plus. None of us (Bh collectors) would agree or quote this high of a value. The range in the group would be more like $300-400 on those tractors based on the area it was being sold. Now I have had several people tell me they wanted this kind of money, and I asked them where they got their valuation. Usually if restored, it was what they had in it; or the rest quoted this $1400 BH on eBay, which I quickly pointed out had been on eBay for over a year.
I bet if you ask the Panzer collectors, none of them would value this deal even close to his asking price. If we don't give them some guidance someone is going to pay a high price that they can never recoup. The market will dictate the price 90% of the time. We all walk away from deals because the value equation does not fit and buy others because it does fit. My guess is that this guy probably just pulled this price out of the air.

I was glued to the auction yesterday & was just foaming at the mouth. I saw the corvette that went for $3,500,000 of coarse it was 1 of 1 I guess that made the difference.  :D

Yea, people tend to think their stuff is more valuble than it is. I was looking through the Rochester farm and garden craigslist today and this guy had a $100-150 wisconsin engine listed for $725!
