Travis could not believe his eyes when he saw it.  I think he was in shock! He just stared at it not believing his eyes.

He looked it over and found the problem and said that he can fix it.

His dad was with him.  We sat and talked for a while and had a great time.

I told Travis to let me know when the 312 is fixed up and working again, so that I can go see it,( and kick myself in the butt for not fixing it myself.)  But I know it is going to a good home.

Showed Travis and his dad the two JD's a 210 and 212 that I had been rebuilding.  The 210 started right up and Travis said that it sounds good.

The 212 has a Walbro carb and it would not start and he said that he had problems with the Walbro carb too.  I had it running a couple days ago, but it was running the best.  I have a Carter carb that need a kit put in it, before it is running again.

It is quite nice and I think lyall took care of me.  Ok, he was real good to me.

The '78 312 arrived home and my dad and I could not leave it alone.  Swapped in the good battery from the 120 to see if it would turn over.  It did and it was strong.  Just for giggles we sprayed some MAF cleaner (because that is what I had handy) into the carb but it did not fire.  Checked the points and they were stuck together.  After a bit of cleaning and checking the gaps we had strong spark.  With a bit of gas into the carb thru a hose we cranked it over and it ran.  No smoke or funny sounds.   :D

One thing I noticed is that the '78 does not have the front hydro lines but the '77 does.  Also, the input shaft on the pump is bad on the '78 and good on the '77.  Looks like these two will get morphed together into a machine I will call the Frankentwelve.   :smilewink:

I am going to split the '78 312 off into another thread since this project has taken a turn.

Well, I spun the '78 off into another thread but ultimately here is the plan:

I will paint up the '77 frame, install the H-2 set-up from a 316K, hunt down and install the two-pedal brake set-up from a 317 to install, and put the best parts of the two together.  The '78 dash is in rough shape and the '77 will be easy to paint since it is apart.  I will also use the '78 fender pan when the '77 goes back together.  I will swap the strong k301 from the '78 into the '77 and the hot rod K301 in this thread will go in my 120.

When all this will happen is an entirely different conversation.

Bringing this one back...

I finally power washed the frame to 71632 (the 77) and I am going to strip it for a coat of blitz black paint. I will do the H2 conversion on this frame and go from there. I guess I like things to look the way I want them.
