The girl have their Co. 4H fair today and tomorrow, down here it called " the County Youth Show". We didn't do livestock this year, but did do Baked Goods and Handy Crafts. So we will see this afternoon how they have done.

Good luck to the girls, always a very very busy week for us, but yet fun too. My wife always makes our kids do some type of "special interest" project, then they do goats and sometimes small animals. Both want to do market chickens and son wants market turkey this year, oh boy!

My daughter does "bake in" where they are given a recipe then all the kids come in with age groups and actually mix/bake whatever right there then get judge, that is a long day!

4H. is good experience for kids, and parents too. Little lessons learned there, (I'm thinking safety and good sportsmanship) last a lifetime, as do the friendships formed through competition. Good luck to all.

Wow! 4H in the spring?  Don't see much action for fairs and such up here till Fall and just before Harvest season. Guess Texans grow all year long then?

I asked Brian same thing last year, it gets too hot in Texas late spring through fall to have animals locked up in barns, they have to do it in winter when it's cooler. Ours is always the week before state fair so kids that qualify can go up there.
