Should I replace the bearings (crank shaft bearings, etc.), while I have it apart?

I always felt like once you get that deep into an engine just do a complete overhaul. Your like me theirs plenty of money to be spent but sitting on a GT knowing the engine is the best it can be would be a comfort.

I need to find a source for quality main bearings, as the Kohler ones cost $110!

I had an idea, I thought it might be neat to paint the MF "triple triangle" on my new seat, (on the steering wheel side of the back rest) just like the new MF Ag tractors have the "triple triangle" sewn on the back rest. Is there a special kind of paint that I should use? I'm not sure that I will, just pondering. I do want to paint the back side of the seat red, like the original would have been.

Gabriel,

check out Stens replacement parts.  I have had good luck with there replacement parts .  They run about 1/2 the cost of Kohler parts.

Gabriel,  a good source is stens.  I and many of my friends have used stens replacement parts with no problems.  they are about 1/2 the cost of Kohler

I'll be honest, I don't think you're gonna find a paint that will stick well to the vinyl seeing as though it flexes when you sit against it. The paint will probably just rub off. Just spend the $ and have it embroidered on lol just kidding!

I wondered about that. I wasn't sure if I really wanted to do it, as it's not how it would have been originally.

Thanks, I'll check in to it! I've used some Stens parts on our power equipment, as well as some of my customers.

Gabriel

Yes.

I found a website that has aftermarket crankshaft bearings for $20! I need to see if the original bearing has any numbers on it, as it may be a common bearing that a bearing store would have.

Here is a link to the site: http://gardentractor....com/engine.htm  It's a site for pulling GTs, but they have a lot of good info about engines.

Are you having a seat made? Often, reupholsters can do stuff like that.
