Man you guys are taking a cub guy and opening the door to Massy's for him

It's a shame that there aren't many in your area. If you really would like to have one, then I hope you are able to find one someday!

There's going to be an auction in Minnesota that has some Masseys. It may be too far away for you. Here's a link: http://www.henslinau...er.pdf-Internet

Today, I started taking apart the engine. The flywheel is being stubborn. The engine has very poor compression. In one picture, you can see that both valves don't close simultaneously. Sorry my pictures aren't in order.

Holy smoke ! look at the crud on the cylinder jug, never cleaned.

Valve may be sticking in the seats, there is a moment when both are open after exhaust stroke just pass TDC on the begining of intake stroke.

I suppose no one ever cleaned it because it's hard to reach, and what really made it bad is oil leaking and causing all the dust and dirt to stick. That's interesting about the valves being open simultaneously.

It is crazy how some people take care of things or lack there of.  If only these tractors could talk.  They would all be singing additionally they are the we as collectors found them.

A lot of carbon on the head gasket maybe a leak? Can you salvage the piston? Looks like you had some bad rings too. I'm debating whether or not to rebuild my Tech 12 on the MF it runs good but I would feel better if I did.

Holly OMG what a "lack of cleaning program" the previous owner

had going on with that engine.

How does the bore look? Hard to tell in those 2 pics, but nothing

obvious there.

You may get away with just rings and gaskets.
