The Sprints used Gutbrod,Kiekhaefer,JLO & Kohler Engines
The sprints were made 1969-1971 (According to my Sprint literature) but heard from Collectors some were made in 72' as well?
All Bolens snowmobile literature seems to stop at 1971
A 1970 340 Sprint should have a JLO L340
Hi guys! New to the site. They made the Sprint sleds for the model years 69, 70, 71, 72. They put Kiekhaefer engines in the 72's in 3 models. The 71's were all Gutbrods. The fact on the Gutbrod engines is that they were built exclusively for Bolens to put their name on.
Yours is a 71. The tell tale difference in 71 and 72 is the handlebars and mostly the rear bumpers and grab handles are chrome on the 72's. The reason the literature stops is because it's actually dated 1971 when the sleds were being built for the following 72 model year.
1969 they used JLO and Gutbrod.
1970 they used JLO Gutbrod, and Kohler.
I'm a Bolens Sprint collector and buy up all the parts I can. I get boxes of parts and occasionally run into what I believe to be tractor parts mixed in. Does anyone have parts books where if I gave you part numbers you could see what they're for??
