I was wondering about Bolens engine pulley sizes,I have a 1969 1220 with a 12 HP Tecumseh with a 1 inch diameter pulley like the two I own in the picture. What I need is the same pulley with 1 1/8 " bore. People have mentioned the Wisconsin TRA!2 as a replacement what diameter crank does it have ? There was a 1556 in the local scrap yard last summer with the overhead valve engine would it be 1 1/8 " bore ? Thanks Guys I have a 1976 Tecumseh with the big crank to go in if I find a pulley .

The tra12 would be a 1 1/8 crank as is the 1050 and all the others that used the Wisconsin. The 1556 will be a 1 inch crank as is all the other bolens that used the Tecumseh.
Scratch that it is the other way around Tecumseh is 1 1/8 Wisconsin is 1 inch

Great so that gives me some ideas what to look for.My first thought was the local machine shop but that would be 100 dollars to bore it and cut a new key way. So at some point between the 1969 Tecumseh and the 1976 engine they made the crank larger in diameter. Will check around to see if there is a Wisconsin pulley out there. Thanks Mike

It is always something on a engine conversion, got the pulley back from the machine shop Thursday and fitted the 1976 Sears Tecumseh into my Bolens 1220 after a little work switching the much nicer Sears exhaust for a simpler to fit pepper shaker type I ran into another issue. The Bolens Tecumseh drained the oil out the bottom of the block and the Sears which sat sideways had a short pipe coming out the side well now the PTO belts are running into the pipe. So the pipe will have to be removed and a plain pipe plug or better yet the socket head type fitted to the block. It is like people say when ever a change in engines is made there will always be something else to watch for. O well another day should finish the old girl and I should be back in business, have a great weekend and to those in Ontario keep the snow off the fireworks ! Cheers Mike
