I see people placing ads all the time that say "someone told me it was worth 10,000", now they believe that person, and no matter how much proof you provide them that it is not worth that much or is that rare, they believe their friend/BIL. I always ask why they didn't sell it to the person making the appraisal, since they thought so much of it.

Probably Because Its "Rare" and they read about some goof ball paying that much for one so they must be worth double that!

Hi,

This certainly brings up the point of "rare" does not necessarily mean "valuable".

I've never seen one and agree with posters that $4k+ is ridiculus when a new one is les than 1k.

The other question is how usefull can this implement be?

Chuck

nope they didn't read it, someone told someone, who told someone, who told them. Therefore it is true and a fact

The difference between genius and stupidity is that only genius has limits. And, stupidity should be painfull. I've seen plenty of stupidity in 29 years with the Army and 10 years as a town engineer. Its funny how the very stupid think that they are smart. A particular Captain comes to mind, he was warned to stay away from a mined area but he went in there. The explosion was so big that his tank was thrown. He got what he deserved but his crew were inocent victims.

The seller has to pay a percentage on that price to EPAY doesn't he? It will get expensive to keep listing it at a rediculous price.

There was a thread a year or two ago about using these. I think it was a member from South Africa told of building a dam with one.

Good Luck, Rick

I think Ebay allows a few mulligans but otherwise the seller will pay a $425 fee for that item rather it sells or not when it leaves Ebay.

Ads like that don't bother me a bit.  In fact, they make me laugh, which isn't a bad thing.  It's his & will stay his, so let him dream away!
