If you are interested in installing a home or small office server, DistroWatch (DW) is currently running a series of articles in there weekly news letter comparing server operating systems.  The first Newsletter is out and can be found here.  It compares SMS and SME projects. In the weeks to come it will compare openSUSE and Zentyal.  This is by no means all the offerings out there for a server OS but just merely what readers voted on.

I just figured there may be others who are considering adding a server to their home network.  For those who are wondering why you would want a server, here are a few reasons.

1) a fast and easy backup platform

2) Additional storage space for data (files)

3) Share files with others on the same network

4) Make a mirror image of your local HDD.

5) an inexpensive web server.

For just a few reasons.
