Hi guys, just looking for some ideas to streamline my electronic life and maybe save a little money. I live under a rock, electronically speaking, so bear with me.

Land line phone, 2 lines with dial up internet----------------100.00 month
Dish network, two rcvrs mid grade service--------------------68.00 month
Pay as you go, basic go phone---------------------------------15.00 month
total 183.00 month

Daughter entering college in Jan, and would be better off with high speed, but not available through phone company.
Would like to keep 1 land line for dependability in bad weather.

Ideas anyone?

Thanks George

We have been considering something similar. Our phone company won't separate services but our area Cable Company (now available to us) will sell us just internet. then we're thinking about going with cell phones from there.

IDK, it's about a break even here, if My Kids each get one too. We need to make a decision this week I guess.

No cable available here, so that is not an option.

No cable here, or high speed on the phone......

We had the satellite internet for a couple of years....Its not too bad, but the weather really affects it....It is also far from high speed.......maybe mid speed, faster than dialup, but sure not cable/DSL

We now have cellular service from our cell phone company (Rogers in Canada).....I am sure there are local for you.....It is very fast and quite reliable. It did get slow because they were overloaded with customers, but they upgraded and its good now.........Problem with it is, it is pay per data........For 10 gig of data, it costs us $70 ($5/gig after that)......We dont download anything, just surf net, facebook, forums etc and we are usually 12-14 gig.......about $100/month.

Living in the country is great....but there are some disadvantages
