It's so cold out - if you toss water in the air, it freezes before it hits the ground.

I'm kinda skeptical, he didn't show in the cup to prove he started with liquid water. He is also out there in a short sleeve shirt, for it to be cold enough to do that I am sure he would have put on some kind of jacket.

I meant tonight when i am snowblowing, don't get me wrong, -40 is really down there.

In other words when the temp is hovering high 90's you are having trouble and im running around happy as can be. some are made for the cold, others the heat.

Lets settle at a fair 75 degress

Ryan,

I wouldn't call it a trick, but using hot water takes into account the Mpemba effect.  The only trick is to try this when it's REALLY cold out.  Water doesn't react like this when it's a balmy 0F.  Trust me - 0F right now would feel almost tropical.

As for the t-shirt - we are being razzed on facebook for being outside in this temp.  The video is 6s long.  We were outside for about 10 seconds.  If you go outside in this temperature, you don't feel the cold right away.  A minute would be too long.

As Team_Green commented, if it's going to take more than about 30 seconds I will bundle up.  You don't put on a coat to take the frozen pizza out of the freezer?

Dwayne.

About fifty years ago, on a Boy Scout Winter Camporee, it was so cold that the rinse water froze to the aluminum plates as I shook them off. If you spit in a high arc it would freeze before hitting the ground. We experimented with all kinds of things. All we could do at night was huddle around a big camp fire and rotate to keep one side from burning and the other from freezing. We still managed to have fun. Everybody be carefull and stay warm. Good Luck, Rick

Must not have been cold enough, as I saw some frozen droplets hit the ground.  When it's cold enough ALL the water vaporizes.

Wanted to try for a better disbursement, but it was too cold to keep trying.  ;)

I believe most of the drops were freezing as well.
