Last year while I was at my MiL & FiL's last Christmas I found a WH D-250 with a Ark 500 loader on it for sale just a couple hours away near Chattanooga, TN.. I contacted the seller and to my surprise it was still for sale. Sent him the money and asked him if it could stay there til I got back here to pick it up, it was the only time I didn't have a trailer with me. He said it would be just fine and he would keep it under the shed til I could get it picked up. So today I finally got it picked up and can look it over to see what all it will need. The best part of the whole deal is that the Ark 500 loader is the same loader that Bush Hog used on their JB model tractors. The tractor is pretty rough, but the loader cylinders are in great shape as is the pins and the bucket. Even got all the manuals with it in a binder.

I'm thinking that this would be a good candidate for a knock off Gutbrod 2500D. Just have to find Kubota D600 engine to drop in this and find the decals for it.

Oh that has a lot of potential. I would like a D250 but that renualt engine scares me. Parts are supposed to be hard to find for it. I think Gravely used the same engine in the GMT9000.

I have heard the same thing.

I'm not sure of the condition of the engine, was told it may be stuck. I wasn't worried thru because I was able to buy it for a lot less then the loader was worth by it's self, so the tractor was free.

Looks like a good score!

Was that ARK 500 loader what Wheelhorse sold new with the D-250? Or did someone add it later?

Thanks,

Joe

I think that tractor would be perfect for a diesel! You have a lot of room in there to get everything you need under the hood.

I know the Ark 500 loader was used by Bush Hog on the JB series, and Simplicity/Allis on the "Powermax"/620/720 series.

I was told they were both sold new together.

You could also get the Ark loader in the late Sixty's with a new Wheel Horse before the D-series came out.

Ryan, I nice thing is it would be a bolt in as the 2500-2600 models came with the Kubota D-600 as their diesel model.

What does a D-250 use for a transmission?

Nice find, btw.
