hi guys, talk about crazy weather, i wake up to about an inch of freezing rain, ice everywhere some of my trees are down, and now its about 45-50 degrees, the roads are flooded, i have about 10 acres underwater and my neighbours are out trying to unplug the ditches of clumps of ice to get the water moving, power was out for just over an hour and i was thinking of starting up the gen set to get the pumps running, but just came back on, for how long who knows, apparently we now have a snowstorm on its way, oh goodie just what we need, well that what happens when you live in the great white north, you can have all 4 seasons in one day HA HA HA !!!!!! farmer john

We are about 375 road miles apart and we are at 19* F and blowing snow. I could live with 50+8 for the rest of the winter. I thought you could only enjoy the 4 seasons in one day in Michigan?  Hope you stay dry and keep your power. Roger.

Hi Farmer John.  Sounds like a real mess.  Flooding, freezing temps and snow just doesn't sound fun.

I was going to complain about -30C.

Thought I would show what it looks like here. The drive was cleared of snow yesterday amd the deck was also cleared yesterday. Supposed to get another 6+ inches on top of the 5" we have gotten already.  Roger.DSCF6569.JPG DSCF6570.JPG

I woke up to 72* this morning at 7AM, it has been raining all day and a flash flood watch is in affect but it is not nearly as bad as what others have been experiencing.  All of you having to deal with the snow and ice, especially the ice, please be careful and don't venture out unless you have to.

Think I'll see about moving down there, at least at winter time!

I had to plow the yard twice today with the Case 580E loader/hoe.

Snow piles are about 12ft high already.

The storm that is just finishing up left us the worst snow and ice to plow that I have ever had to deal with. I plowed my own and neighbors with my M-5040 Kubota. I must have spent 4 hours in it. Snow is easy to plow but that layer of ice then snow on top was a real bummer. Then I got the Bolen 1886 out with the snow caster and sure enough that ice has caused something to break in the angle drive unit. That will be tomorrows work. One more thing I use an 8 foot Fisher power angle on the Kubota. I really think that after todays plowing I have had about all the fun I can stand.

When the inside of the house reached 79 F, same as the outside temp, I gave up and turned on the AC.  Points west of us have been pounded with rain, but only brief showers here.
