Looks to be in good shape. It is in Olathe, Ks., which is about 10 miles west of Kansas City, Mo

Id say that's worth it. Has the mower deck, front plow, 3 point, and the rare tool box under the seat.

Right smack dab in the middle of the continent. What more could you ask for?

Hey guys!  My buddy bought it last night!  Here's the skinny on it.  Initial assessment is it's original paint on the hood and fenders.  Wheels have been Scheibed, maybe the grill too.  Decals are all there, but a little faded in places.  The deck is 42".  The blade is a huge Bolens that has some brackets welded to it to make it work.  I guess it does?  It didn't have a battery installed, but we got it to start eventually by jump starting it.  No smoke.  The three point lifts fine.  Besides a battery, it needs a headlight, pto belt tensioner pulley, and the throttle cable fixed/replaced.  I was iffy on the $575, but he was excited and it did have the three point hitch.  I didn't see any fluid leaks.  Any idea of a good source for the belt tensioner pulley?

Nice tractor.  I'm sure your buddy will love it.

For what it's worth, until he gets a battery, I've been told these will pull start fairly easily.

Most have starter/gens and if you take of that belt, has the lock in spot for small rope. BUT, that flywheel is in front, back of grill and hard to get to.  I think that is fella on the MTD forum on the "other" big site.  I've seen that before. He has several if same guy. Lots of neat ones on that forum. That pulley might be the one on epay. Put in MTD 990 for search, lots of things come up and they don't move real fast either.  Some are pricey, some are not, so shop around. Joes Outdoor power always has lots for them too, many on the epay sight.  Two belts to go down to the pto, think they are 31" if I recall correctly. That tensioner set-up is usually worn and needs some welding up and re-grinding to shape to make it more solid and align better, saving belt wear. I've had to do that on both of ones I worked on. AND, uses Shoulder bolts to allow movement, don't loose those!
