I used up the rest of my vacation till the end of the year!

Anyone else taking holiday time?

Sadly when my time off is over I'm gone back to WV for another week. My wife isn't happy about it.

Don't have that choice where im at :( You get 2 weeks off depending on how long you've been there. 3 Weeks if you've been there longer than 7 years? Were open everyday of the week except for Christmas day and that's it.

I have a decent Christmas vacation every year - about three months

This year, my last day worked was December 12th but usually off December 1st.   I will be back to work BY March 1st.  Last year was called back February 6th.    :(  Hope its later this year - I have things I need to get done!!   I have a heated shop so it works well for me.

We do have fish fry's for all our million dollar [or more] customers so I occasionally get called in for that and that allows my part of my health insurance to be paid without any out of pocket.

The first year I worked there I didn't draw unemployment and when I got back the bosshole reamed me good.  I was informed I would be drawing in subsequent years.

:deadhorse:

The company looks at that as part of my salary.  Unemployment isn't much but it pays my bills.

Most winter days the farthest I go is to the mailbox.

Since we figure we already live in paradise, there's really no place we want to go, and having stock kind of precludes being away for more than a day anyway.

I've got the days off between Christmas and new years. I take them most years. I find a break is goodafter the busy run up to christmas. It's also one of the few times during the year when I get to see my parents.

Off from Christmas eve to Jan 2.

We shut down the whole facility.
If we want to get paid for it, we either use holiday pay, or they let us bank hours to cover it.
I get three weeks off anyway, so I use 2 weeks in the summer and save the rest for Christmas.

If all goes well, I should have all the steel for my dozer tracks by the end of the week, so I'll have lots to do.

I used to take the week off between Christmas and new years when the girls were little.  Anymore, I work.  For all of those who say I have it so good by working from home, take note.  This year it is likely I will be working on Christmas eve and even Christmas day (and I've done this before).  I am that busy.  I pull all nighters.  I haven't had a vacation away from my office for 8 years now.  We go, the computer comes with me.  The family goes down to the pool, I am in the room trying to get the next job done.  On the good side, I could be plowing snow or cutting grass while the rest of you are at work.  It just depends on the workload.  It's a give and take and it's fine with me.  This year has been pretty crazy.  It still beats looking for work.

I can take time off if there are not too many people already off. I am finishing my last week of vacation through Wednesday. Jan 2 I start fresh with all my vacation.

Not this year. I have been with this company for 28 yrs so earn 4 weeks of vacation per year and can take it whenever I want.

If I don't use it I can roll it over into the next year. up to the 4 weeks I earn per year.

But 4th quarter is our busiest time of the year so I rarely take vacation in the 4th quarter.

Odd thing is I could hardly wait to earn 4 weeks of vacation and have never used the whole 4 weeks since I got it?

Well sort of, I have taken 6 weeks the past two years to eat into my rollover.

I found since we moved onto the acreage(with extra chores) it is easier to use vacation, so only have 27 hrs to roll over into next year.

I normally take off anyway, but our plant is shutting down this year.

Last day to work is Friday Dec 20, not coming back until Jan 2.

Plan to spend most of my vacation in the bathroom......remodeling that is! :D
