Twas the night before Christmas

and I was working in the shed,

Thinking about Garden Tractors

stuck in my head.

I tore apart a carb

to install a new kit,

Having nothing but troubles

it was giving me fits.

When all of a sudden

I heard a loud crash,

So I jumped to my feet

and out the door I ran fast.

I went outside

and what did I see?

A sleigh and nine reindeer

hanging from the tree.

As I stood there wondering

and scratching my head,

Only then did I realize

that the reindeer were dead.

Then I spied Santa

laying in the snow,

Knocked out cold

he took quite a blow.

So I picked him up

barely, but able,

And laid him on

our picinic table.

After a while

he finally came to,

And after seeing the mess

he asked, What shall I do?

The kids need these toys

they've been good this year,

But my sleigh can't fly

without my reindeer.

I told him, Don't panic

as we got down the sleigh,

You'll deliver these toys

surely there's a way.

So I went back in the shed

and pondered a minute,

This sleigh will go

with a Kohler motor in it.

A twin cylinder Kohler

that'll do the trick,

And a Peerless 2300

four speed stick!

I ran 2" straight pipes

back under the sleigh,

And gave him two headlights

to light up his way.

I repainted the sled

from red to now green,

With a set of chrome wheels

the best sled you ever seen.

No, it may not fly

or go very fast,

But it looks like a Deere

so you know it will last.

Well, we loaded his sleigh

all neat and tight,

He gave me a wink

and drove off into the night.

As he was leaving

his face full of cheer,

"This is the best Christmas of all

cause nothing runs like a Deere!"

When the conservation officer shows up at your door I hpre you have enough tags to cover the Eight racks hanging on the wall and the two freezers full of venison. :D

Thanks for the laugh.    Rick

Love it, Troy!

I always enjoy this story, too: Minneapolis Moline saved Christmas in 1938.  That was the last catastrophe that happened to Santa before you saved him.
