When one door closes, another may open.
We spent the entire day on the road and in Doctors offices today.
The testing continues and potential treatments continue to be discussed. I can't go into details yet, as we still don't know exactly what is going on, and supposition would be premature... Just know all your prayers are such a comfort and when we know exactly what is what and what the treatment/prognosis is, I will be sure to catch you all up.

To sum up, the whole family feels a little better than they did yesterday but we are cautious.

Our prayers are with your dad man. You are correct. Take a day at a time and make the best of it as you go. That's the best advice i can tell anyone. My dad has had some very serious health issues he has been dealing with the last several months so i can kind of relate.

Best wishes to him and the family.

Well, there is some news; it's cancer.

Dad has had to have several transfusions due to low blood count. The second half of the biopsy came back positive for an aggressive form of leukemia. He will have to undergo many months of chemo and at the end of it all, we are hopeful to find a 100% match stem cell donor for him from an international list. This will be nearly a year long process and him spending many months in a clean room in a hospital about 2.5 hours away. At the end of all that, and assuming no rejection of the stem cells, he should have a clean bill of health.

To be short, his chances are about 50/50 or maybe a little better.

This process has been a real education. As soon as I get all of the details, I will start a different thread on how little the impact is for a donor. It sounds really scary, but according to the physician, it isn't hardly an issue at all.

Dads spirits are good, he starts his first round of Chemo on Monday with one round per week for a month then more testing.
Please pray for my Dad and Mom that this goes well and a Donor can be found.

I pray a donor is found soon.  Your Dad (and all of you) have a tough road ahead.  Chemo will sap him, so try to keep his spirits up best you can.  Keep your spirits up as well Alan.
