He is still with us. He's got an odd heartbeat this morning and that seems to be part of the problem. They are trying several things, but may have to give him a jolt to shock the heart back into the right pattern.
Thanks guys, the prayers are appreciated.

They had to do that to Dad back when he had all that heart surgery done and it made a huge difference in how he felt after.  Continuing with PRAYERS Alan.

Well, we got some bad news today.
I will fill in the blanks after I get my head wrapped around it.

Thanks for the support.

Ok, I think the family is all up to speed. At least they all should be by now, some members werent my responsibility, so out of my control.

Dads cancer has progressed. While the chemo was working on his blood issues, the cancer has moved into his spinal column.
The news is the beginning of the end. There is zero chance from here.
Prep has begun with doctors asking about DNR's and Hospice and Mom and I making decisions together for him.

The only good things about the day was time with Mom and Dad and witnessing Angels at work.
Dads ICU nurses are the kindest people I have ever seen, they will hold his hand and comfort him. They are 150% for the patient and one even squabbled with a department that wasn't being quick enough in her opinion. These girls moved me to tears yesterday with their kindness toward a total stranger. Their touch was the tenderest I've ever witness and the emphasis was always on Dad's dignity and to make him as comfortable as possible.

There were other things today, but I am not wanting to go into them now, maybe when I have more energy and a better perspective.

I don't have the right words, but Alan, I truly wish things were much different.  I am glad the nurses are angels for your Dad.  I pray your Dad doesn't have pain & is at peace with all things.

I am so sorry to hear this.  I've gotten to know you and your family (well, the kids anyway) a little more over the past few years so this one really hits home for me.  I hope the kids are handling it alright.  They may appear tough on the outside but they could always use some quality time to talk.  I'm sure they are hurting and you seem to have a pretty tight knit family so that's good.  I pray that God gives you strength to be the rock of the family because I'm afraid that is the role that will fall on you.  I'm here if you need me buddy.

Even being the rock, you will need to let the feelings out. Spend as much quality time as you can with the family!

I am very sorry to hear this.  I will keep you and your family in my thoughts.

Make sure you take time for yourself to grieve.  I understand all too well being the rock, being the one making decisions, and trying to keep it together for the rest of the family.  It wears on your greatly, and you forget to take the time for yourself.  We all grieve, and accept in our own ways, make sure you make time for yourself as well.
