Finally made it to the Cancer Center. Downtown pittsburgh is a foreign land, driving wise to me.

Having a quick snack, then our appointment at noon. Thanks everyone.

Well, the news was mixed bag. He is responding very well to the treatments, but they haven't found a match on the donor list yet.

Even if the match is found, they are making us be cautious about the transplant as anything could happen at that point. Rejection is a possibility, so are some other very bad outcomes... But the best chance for a long term recovery is the transplant.

They would like us to go thru two more rounds of chemo and some add'l treatments before they take a final marrow sample and there is a big decision to make.

Thanks guys, it means so much that people all over are hoping for the best possible outcome.

Thanks for the update Alan. I know it's not the totally goods news you had hoped for, but there is a definite positive that your Dad is doing very well with the treatments. Will continue to keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers here in Dover.

Kinda need the prayers in mass at this point guys.

About three weeks ago, Dad felt Fantastic. The medicines were giving him back a quality of life he hadn't had all winter. He even started pruning an apple tree or two.
Then, at Easter, he started with debilitating back pains. Then his bones began to ache and his skin hurt. The pain pills made him a zombie and the sweats from them made him dehydrated.

FFwd to now, he is currently in the ICU to stabilize Heart rate and he is a little old man clinging to this side of existence. He is in and out of consciousness or sleep and he is sometimes needing help to take food. My kids haven't seen him in 4 days. They were shaken right to their roots when they saw him... Even with me trying to prep them.

When he is awake, he is slow to follow conversations, but understands and exchanges with you as long as you're not in a hurry.

I don't think he has given up, but he has a long, long way to go if he is going to get back home.

If anyone has a minute, could you spare a prayer for Dale for healing and to my Mom Judy for continued strength.
Thank you, and God Bless.

Alan, I do feel for you man.  I know what you're going through.  When I read your above post, I literally stopped, closed my eyes, and said a prayer for your Dad & all of you.  My heart goes out to you all.
