Joe's outdoor power has those listed on epay, complete with pipe nipple and dipstick. They are for MTD 990, but think are same right?  I got one as mine was gone. About a foot long piece of 3/4" pipe. Exact length I never measured.

The stick length is different from the 990 to the 1655, The 1655 uses a tube and large cap with stick, the 990 uses a plug with a stick on it. Probably your stick is down inside your rear differential, I've had a couple break off and go down inside.

You my want to check, they may still be available.

both my 990 & 995 have screw on caps.

what is the length of the stick on a 1655 ? isnt that what the OP really needs ? he could then at least check it

yeah, the same as my 995. ill get ya a measurement tomorrow.

here is a pic of the rear just to compare.

ill give ya a total length of the dip stick so you can fab one up. shouldnt be to hard. ya gotta  heat the flex steel before you bend it or it will break.

When I get out to my parts shed I'll get a measurement, My point was that his stick is inside the rear and should be retrieved with a magnet,
