Today is the opening day of Buck Season here in the Commonwealth. Please be safe, good luck and hope at least some of you bag one.

My KK is out with her Grandpa. I think it's as much bonding time as hunting time, but we will see.
I told her to text me if she got something, I have to work today.

Good luck!  Our firearm season here wrapped up Saturday...I only made ot out once, and had a blast coming home empty-handed.  I need to make it a point to get out with my old man more than once, next year (there was nearly a decade where we always made a week of it ...back when I was 10-19 yrs old).

Be safe out there. I just never got in to sitting out in the cold to hopefully shoot something, my son is getting the bug though.

We used to have a plant in Ridgeway, they actually shut down the plant for the first week of hunting season, crazy!

I have only been out twice.  I like it plenty, even though I didn't see anything.

Both Saturday and Sunday mid morning there were single cannon shots from the woods behind my house. They weren't more that 150m away at about the boundry with my neighbor. I get nervous when there is shooting near my family. But, I'm not stupid enough to go out there to investigate(atleast unarmed). If you go hunting be very aware of where that bullet is going to go. I try to have a big tree as a backstop. Have fun, be safe, and Good Luck, Rick

Most schools in PA are closed the first day or two of buck season.

Regular season in NY opened the 16th of last month. I only got to go out twice before I left for Florida. I get back early Thursday morning, and the season closes Saturday. I hope I can get something before the season ends.

When I worked in PA the first 2 days of deer season were a paid day off.  The owner said it was easier to close for 2 days then have everyone take vacation days, or call off!

Paid holiday for me today.  Have been off since Thansgiving day with all the regular days being paid days.  Nice way to get a 5 day weekend without actually using any vacation time.  Got a call this morning an dad shot a 9 point on the farm this morning.  Nephew was hunting with him and was going to go back out this afternoon and hunt some more and see what he could come up with.

Any-deer season (buck or doe) ended last tuesday here in Missouri.   I went a couple of times, did not see anything.

doe only season started the next day, and continues until this sunday (12-8). I went out again saturday and did not see anything again. These are both rifle seasons.  Bow season goes from sept. 15 to dec. 31, with a break during the first rifle season.   the last rifle season is over the christmas holidays, and it is called a alternative methods gun season. this used to be called muzzle-loader season, but they changed it so you can now hunt with any center fire  pistol too.  So I went out and found a Thompson Contender with a 14 inch barrel in 30-30 caliber.  I also put a 4X Leupold scope on it.  It is fun to shoot and it shoots great!

With a rest I am good out to 80 yards, but it should shoot farther.  My son calls it my hand cannon.  I let him shoot it, and after 1 shot he said he ain't shootin that again!

This morning my Grandpa  and I woke up early, then went back to bed, then woke up and went hunting. We saw four deer today, one was a buck too.  Each one stood broadside to me and I should have shot them but i couldn't stay steady and didn't want to take a bad shot. So i waited about two hours and I saw someone chase one down in to the valley and then it came up and ran right towards me.  Then it stopped broad side and I took a deep breath and ............ it went down with one shot. My first deer ever I was  soooo happy!!! To bad it was a doe but that's ok ill get my buck another day.
