I was cruising good ole craigslist and found these 2 wheeled tractors - any idea what model the Bolens is? http://parkersburg.c...4222103360.html

I also found a ridemaster.. but I think I posted a link to it the other day. http://parkersburg.c...4202112440.html

Anyways - just thought I would share, I don't usually see any of the older stuff turn up for sale here locally - but i'm always curious about the 2 wheeled Bolens models when they do because  my Great Grandparents used to sell them at their dealership. I'm hoping that I eventually come across some dealership paperwork in my grandpa's garage that shows which models etc. they may have sold... but i'm sure that paperwork was thrown out long ago.

That one thats red is a Bolens, Could be a model DJ but would need better pics or some engine numbers to say for sure.

Been looking for one of the early Bolens walkbehinds for a few years but they are either hacked up or overpriced.

Everything he has seems overpriced to me......

I found this ride a matic for $400 with new tires (supposedly a 1960). It seems reasonable to me - but it's to far for me.. and i don't really need anything else. The seller claims he has 60+ tractors and is thinning out his collection. It might be worth a call to see if he has any other Bolens stuff - although i'm sure he'll know if he has a rare gem.

I wanna say they were known as Bolens Cultivator. Don't recall any model name or #.

They all had Names/Model numbers.

They built these by the tens of thousands and these are what put Bolens on the map as a leading Garden Tractor manufacture.

Alot of them were made for extended periods of time and they are pretty difficult to ID the year without knowing the engine numbers.

The tire size is another factor in determining model.

I'm no expert by any means but have been studying  ones I have seen and the literature I have been able to collect.

Not sure why it went down so fast...

Looks to be missing the hard to find belt guard.....

Wonder if he has it and just didn't put it back on - ad claims that he started to restore it...

Links been deleted.

Yes it has - very odd since it was just working - Here is what the add said along with the phone number:

"I started to restore this tractor and ... I've got to many projects going
it has an intact serial tag
rare fenders/toolbox
tires are almost new
kohler engine ran well now has no spark

I've got over 200 into rubber

I believe I have some attachments for it ill have to check

selling because I'm thinning out my collection (over 60 tractors)

asking 400

616 666 1127"

Perhaps someone just bought it - which would be ironic

Anytime I hear "Restore" in a CL ad I get nervous...... Especially Started to Restore..... Who knows what mechanical skills the guy has, something could have broke on him and he decided to give up.

The bolens with 1929 on the gas tank is the DJ. Looks to have the right carb but missing the air cleaner. Really not too far off the mark when you figure the carbs are bringing almost half that. The others are a Handiman and Jari like he states. I see the final drive assembly for a Standard or Viking twin in the background of the engine picture.

Not really - i'm not looking for anything, but occasionally I go to http://zoomthelist.com/ and do a search of all the US. It's not as accurate as going through each city per state but it'll usually bring up a few interesting things. You should call this guy Jerome - he claims to have 60+ tractors and is thinning the herd.. perhaps he has something you are looking for? I posted the text from the ad before it went down.

I also found this but the price gave me a heart attack - then again I have no idea what these are worth. Does this belong to one of the members on here?
