I think I have one of the best SIL a man could ask for.  Both of our daughters, in VA, decided to come down for the holiday.  Our middle daughter and her family usually stays with us since we don't have much room. (our other daughter has a big family)  when they come down my SIL and I usually end up hanging out and working in the shop together and the same thing when we go up there.

Anyway, I had been looking at a new flat screen TV since the prices were going to be so low for Black Friday.  I had been doing research on which one I wanted at the best price, so when my SIL got down here we started talking about it and really comparing the TV's and deciding which one I actually wanted.  Well I was dreading going and standing in line (in the cold) and dealing with the crowd (I don't do well with a crowd).  Well Thursday night he comes and tells me to just stay home and enjoy being with my grandson, He said that he and 2 of my granddaughters would go shopping and get the TV as well.  He ended up standing out in line,in the cold, for the store to open and he not only ended up getting our TV but also one for my FIL, who is 81 and still has one made back in the 70's or 80's.  The wife and I will go out to my FIL this week and install his TV.  I was quite proud of my SIL and just wanted everyone to know it.

Bill, that's great you didn't have to go to the store to get your TV,  I was out in that mess for over 5 hours and every year I say I won't do it again, but I do. :wallbanging:

What a GREAT SIL you have there!

I didn't think about that the Sister-in-law angle when I was typing it.  :wallbanging:   I fixed the title.  Brian, I looked into getting one shipped but this one could not be ordered on line.  I really am glad he offered to go, the older I get the less I can deal with all that chaos.

Same feelings here, Bill! To me, it's not worth the effort to fight for things!

Tell us what you got. I researched them for a few years before I got mine...good thing too. About the SIL I have two I'm proud of too. As a father it was always a scare who my daughters would bring home to marry, my daughters did well. Thanks for sharing your story.

I have a 60" Vizio I bought about 4 years ago at Sams club on a Black Friday sale. Been a great tv. It's played a lot of TV over the years.

I'll upgrade to a "smart" tv when this one dies. I'd love to be able to plug an so card in or stream movies from my phone and tablet. Play station is a nazi when it comes to that.

We got a 47" Vizio E470 series.  We looked at the smart TV but couldn't find one in our budget.  We were watching an LG 30" we got back when HD and flat screen started coming out and there is no comparison between the two.  The Vizo beats the old LG hands down.  Plus the old LG is very heavy.

I'm excited to take the one we got for my wifes parents out to them next week. Something just dawned on me.  Does anyone know if ATT's U-verse is all HD?  I sure hope so.

A son-in -law to be proud of, but what goes around comes around. I'll bet you're a great father-in law too.
