I know they are Speedex, but I have never dealt with them, not sure I've seen one in person, no idea what he has here.
You may say this is a great deal looking at the ad, but when I called, he said ad was incorrect, it is
$500 for package if the diesel motor stays. It is $200 for both tractors, trailer and he will include the original Wisconsin for the diesel one. I've never dealt with these or Wisconsin motors,
Am I doing good for these for $200? I may get them, keep the one and sell the round hood one, keep the square hood with the mowing deck. I can't afford the package with the diesel.

Thanks
Marty

The add says $200 for all. If he is changing the deal without changing the ad, I'd be very suspicious. I recognize that trailer and am pretty sure this was posted back during the summer. Be very carefull. Good Luck, Rick

Yep same tractors. He said he posted wrong and it should've said 500 for all 3 with diesel, but I could have all three for $200 including the Wisconsin to replace the diesel. He said they both "ran" and didn't smoke, the round hood would run with cleaning points and maybe carb cleaning so who knows. I did talk to him over the phone, his wife answered then he did and sounds like older couple. He said he rode the grandkids around and just doesn't need anymore. I was really interested in the diesel, but can't swing it....I'll Let Daniel find me a motor   . He said one is just forward/reverse, the other is 3 spd I think.

Going to look at them tomorrow so guess I may post pics of them on the trailer. May sell one or both once I get them home, have to see what I have and if I even like them.

I'm no Speedex expert but I don't think either of those tractors ever came with a Wisconsin engine if he's trying to pass those off as originals.  Any Speedex I've ever had came with a briggs.

I hope it all works out well.  $500 for three tractors (with a diesel!) and a spare engine is a nice deal, too.

I probably would have made a scene when I was told that the actual price was $500 versus $200 when it is only a minute's job to fix the ad.  Sound a bit like a bait and switch, but hopefully it is only a mistake.

Marty, be cautious. You already got bit once this year, this sounds like it could be a little hokie too.

I think it would be pretty easy for most people to Fix his CL mistake and I'm being cautious is all.

Hard to get ripped when you get to give them a good look over. If they are what is in the pics, I'd buy the lot for $200, no question.  It's worth that without any engine on either of them!

Yea, I was kind of thinking they were decent deals for just the tractor rolling chassis, I kind of like that trailer too, good basis to make 4 wheel trailer too.

I was really interested in the diesel, but even without, I will look them over good. I will do a little research tonight on what they came with, then go look at them tomorrow morning. I was surprised they have been on CL so long with the low price, all the other speedex I did search for were 500 and up. He posted these in the ATV section so I don't think many tractor people have seen it, they were originally posted last Saturday, I figured they would be gone. IT is cold too, people don't want to deal with a project.

I'll look them over pretty well. If motors aren't locked up and mowing deck works, then I may buy.

I did a map search for his address he gave me and did a street view, the picture had the mower one sitting in yard just mowed, the other was at end of street for sale.

Even without the diesel, I think they maybe a decent buy. I can always buy a $99  6.75Hp predator motor from Harbor Freight and use them as yard tugs or find a single or twin cyl diesel in the future, not like I don't have enough projects already.

Even if the ad doesn't read correctly you would not have a leg to stand on if you got into a dispute with him over the price. If I remember correctly neither him nor you would have a fight, for something so small it would not be worth any kind of an argument Even at $500.00 I would buy a book or so and learn a lot about what I had and how to fix it.

I hope this works out for you. I checked this out earlier this week & he had me really confused when he changed the price to $500. which is still a good price. What I gathered he is charging $300. extra if you take the diesel. Let us know how it works out.

I don't know much about speedex, but they look like they are in good shape and 200.00 for all three pieces!?! I don't think you could go wrong

Guy said I was first call in a week, he had 6 calls last night, one guy was going to drive from Lousiville.....you stepping into my territory? :poke:  :D

Well, diesel or not....they followed me home. I felt like Brian squeezing them on the trailer, these are long tractors with trailer too.

There are some issues, obviously the he kept the diesel, no biggy. The Wisconsin motor he gave me was actually a Robin" 8 or 9 Hp newer motor off a mortar mixer. He said it ran, I pulled it over seemed to had good compression, gas tank full of rust though.

So, what I observed with each one

Round hood:

He said 12 Hp Briggs ( this style never had 12, didn't find numbers on motor yet), has decent compression by hand. He said it would run with fuel system cleaning, points cleaned, battery, etc. Does have stale fuel in it, but no rust or varnish so maybe easy clean up.

One rear tire has big slit in it. Maybe able to patch from inside then tube.

Been repainted, no tags/numbers anywhere, I have no idea the model

2 spd rear, forward/reverse, hand brake under seat.

Two different front wheels/ tires.

Square hood.

This one little rougher

No motor

4 Spd Tranny, seems to shift okay

Mower deck not locked up, but PO had it welded to frame, no adjustment. Welds broke on trip home so wired up so I could move it.

Cables froze up.

One front rim hub is about double size, completely shot. Hopefully axle is okay

Other front rim almost blew apart when I aired it up, badly rusted

Rear tires are cracked, hold air and I believe loaded with calcium, valves looks like crusty salt on them and they bubbled when I aired them up.

Dash is not attached, missing belt cover and rear chain cover.

Repainted, no tags/numbers

Trailer

Made from heavy square tube and looks like front wheel drive hubs welded to frame. Tire to tire is about 6' wide. May keep to haul around the new property.

So, I gotta figure out what models these are,....any guesses?

No idea right now what I will do with them. I really like the square hood already so does my son. Daughter wants the round good and me to paint purple with pink wheels :wallbanging:  :wallbanging:

I may buy a HB Predator 6.5 HP and build that for her to play with.

If I can get the Briggs running and it truly is a 12 HP, that bad boy is going on my AC HB212.

I may try the Robin motor, but I would like to try to keep the mowing deck on big one so I would probably need larger Hp motor.

So, here are pics

This rim is shot  Freaked me out as I was airing it up and rim gave a nice loud POP and this. Rusted out in the middle, guess it has a tube in it as it held air for about 20-30 mins that way.
