I need a switch for 2 1556's, and a 1050. Sam Bolens doesn't have it, and I've never seen any on EBay...and ideas?

Take the old one to NAPA. You need to make sure they are the same. Make sure the posts on the replacement switch are labled like the old one. Take if from someone who has had this experience. Good Luck. Roger.

The 1050 Used a different switch than the 1556

How many terminals are on the 1556 switch?

These switches are not available at Napa. Bolens used a unique switch. They are available but very expensive. I found an NOS switch on ebay.

I believe Bob has them

In all my years of trying, I have yet to find any Napa aftermarket for any of the special Tubeframe switches.

Do not worry though , they are still available but are expensive!

What's special about these switches, Dr. Bolens?  Do you have a diagram of sorts I could try to match?   I have a Stens account and a Rotary type parts account that I can drag parts from, as well as a distributor for most common brands.

Somebody may have already tried lawn and garden aftermarket, I ask from ignorance only, and a belief that if you can't try everything, it isn't worth hunting for.

Bob's Lawn & Garden (one of our site sponsors) has some parts for Bolens.  Might give him a shout.

I had to get a new switch for my 1050 before and went to a OPE shop and got a new one from there. The 3 prong switch isn't made any more but you can use a 5 prong one as long as it has the same terminals as the original switch. You will need a switch for battery ignition, this is a different switch than the one needed for a magneto ignition. The only thing that will need to be changed is the wire connectors because the new switch will need slide on connectors.

Thanks for all the replies. I've tried Sam's, and Bob's. The 1556 is a 5 prong. I'll snap a picture tomorrow. I'd really like to keep it original and not bypass the safeties.

Here's a terrible pic...one of the tabs broke off of this switch...otherwise it worked. This is for the 1556. Wiring is not stock, but hope it will be soon.
