I have the Waterloo Model 15 torn apart for painting. The transaxle has one (1) oil seal in it. Not sure why, but it does. Anyway, it is shot & needs to be replaced. It is the older felt style which seam to be NLA.
The problem is that the axle has a factory cut notch for the oil seal to ride in. The axle is 1" OD, and the groove is about .975" OD.
The question is: should I go with an oil seal that has a 1" ID (SKF 9843) and hope it doesn't leak (or install with a speadi-sleeve), or one that is .984" ID (SKF 9686) and hope it doesn't tear going on?
