Last weekend I got the opportunity to drag my Sears up to my buddy's farm in WI to try out some of the implements I got with it.  As it turned out the timing was pretty good as they hadn't gotten started on their fall tilling yet due to equipment breakage so I was actually able to be of some use instead of just playing around.  It's a small scale, organic operation; they own 50 acres and use about 8 of it for the crops, the rest is mostly hay and pasture land for their steer.  I was able to plow probably between 5 and 6 acres for them before I got rained out Saturday afternoon (that was a real bummer as I was having a blast) but perhaps I can get up there and finish the job before the ground freezes up...

Here's the obligatory pics and a few videos as well :D

(Don't mind the fires, he started burning the trash off of the field after I had a fire break cut around the field and seeing as how I had no fuel leaks or anything I decided to keep right on going)

I let my buddy take a couple of passes with it, he was laughing the entire time lol I think I'm getting him hooked on GT's

Fair warning, one of my buddy's neighbors stopped by and there's a couple of bad words overheard by the camera in the video below, just a heads up in case you want to turn the volume down...

Thanks for looking guys!

(Edited, took me a couple of tries to get the videos embedded and working but I think I got them going now)

Awesome.  Seat time pulling a plow is a way cool habit!  Always enjoy doing it myself!

I'm just disappointed I didn't get to try the disc out before the rain hit but hopefully I still can this fall, if not then I'll just have to bide my time... I'm trying to talk my buddy into letting me host a plow day up there, are there any guys around northern IL or southern WI who might be interested in something like that?

Isn't it amazing how much work you can do with those rigs? He's right, you were tearing it up. :D

Is that a 10 or 8 inch plow?

BTW love the sunset pic.

Ask Daniel (Olcowhand) how fast a plow day becomes popular.

The first year it might just be you and a few friends, but the second year, it'll be more, then more.

For 12hp your really getting the work done. That tractor really moves.

If you want to improve your traction, try a set of chains on the rear tires. Makes a big difference.

Enjoyed your post. Thanks.

It was my first time ever plowing with a GT and my first time with a moldboard (only other time I plowed I got about 40 acres under my belt with a quad gang disc behind a big articulated Deere) and I was surprised how well it did. For only having the factory 30 something lb wheel weights on it and not being ag tires I was impressed but next time I'll bring my chains and maybe load the tires.

I'm not sure on the plow, I was meaning to ask, how do you measure them to determine what size they are? Kinda slipped my mind in the excitement of it all :D

I'll pass the photo compliments along as they are all courtesy of my lovely girlfriend...

Look's like fun...their for a second I thought I was watching a Joey Chitwood thrill show when you went plowing into the flames, you might be onto a new hobby like extreme plowing :rolling: The Sears pulled well, what gear were you using?
