Need some advice, if the rag joint is distorted in shape is it bad. Have really bad vibration through out rpm range. Took off driveshaft and it rolls straight.I heard these Kubota engines vibrate at idle and 1/3 throttle but run smooth as glass at WOT. Pic below

If it is distorted at all, you WILL get bad vibration.  It needs to be replaced.  No pic that I can see.

I would say time to replace.  Looks somewhat distorted, and has some age on it.

Oh yeah id say it needs replacing before you loose something and end up with a bigger mess than before.

If that were to blow out on you the resulting mess wouldn't be pretty. It's probably time to drop in a new one as a preventive measure. Having it running out of balance can lead to problems with bearings at the driving and driven sides of the shaft. Also check your engine motor mounts to make sure they are in good shape. A broken or weak mount will cause more vibration to be transmitted to the coupler and down the line to the transmission.

I've made several for Cub Cadets out of heavy conveyor belting with good results. To cut them out I use a band saw, hole saw, and forestner bit (sp?).

Visited my local Case IH dealer and picked up new rag joints. $13 and some change a piece. I've check everything else out on the drivetrain so I hoping this does the trick.

That's great price, certainly better than making them even.

I agree. Here you have to order everything and if I make them I have them in an hour. If they were available for $13 here I wouldn't consider fooling with them either.

Well its been a few weeks since I worked on the 782D. Just been busy with work and things but got finally got some shop time this past weekend and got the new rag joints installed and seems to be a whole lot less vibration now. Now its time to get the 3 point installed.

I ordered a driveshaft off of ebay out of a 2130 2135. It should be here later this week.
Then I will make my own adapters and cut it to size.

So my new shaft showed up today and i am a little surprised that nothing actually holds the shaft into the ends. But as long as it is cut to the right size it should be no problem. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1386277557.867472.jpg
