Gentleman,

I know we aren't allow to post John Deere Manuals anymore for free downloads, but are we allowed to post them in the "For Sale" thread? I wasn't sure, so I thought I better ask. Don't want us getting into trouble.

Troy

I'll have to wait for the senior ones who were around when that went down, but I can't see why you couldn't. JD manuals get sold online all the time. Ebay is chock full of em.

Yeah, I dont think there is anything wrong with listing them for sale here in the classifieds.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the help. I never even gave seeing them listed on ebay a thought. I just didn't want to cause any trouble for us all.

Troy, I conferred with my legal source. (Google) It is permissible to sell them here. It would be allowable for you to clean out the garage, set up tables for all your manuals, and let anyone come over and use them. Setting up a toll booth on the driveway would, however, bring Ms. LawEagle swooping down on your kiester.

About a year ago, JD requested we remove all the manuals from our site. They cited that these manuals are still for sale by JD and are still copyrighted...
That's why we don't have the JD manuals anymore, Except the stuff that is in the Misc manuals, mainly flyers and a few member provided drawings and info.

So if I have a manual and want to share it with a friend, he has to instead go buy it from them? Well it just goes to show how much they must be hurting ? Did you guys get tons of traffic for them ?? .....
Unfortunately I fear this is the way of the future, as things get more expensive they will all be looking for ways to tighten their belts and still make $$. GOOD GRIEF!!!

I do believe it is just the business model they follow. If you were to check their financial statements or follow their stock, you might notice it seems to be working for them. Quite well, as a matter of fact.

While I don't agree with the vantage point their reasoning was based upon, I can understand it.
