Got my first Bolens awhile back and need a little help. A 1556 with deck and blade.  It had set for several years so of course needed fuel tank cleaned, new fuel line and carb completely cleaned.  Runs fine now.  The hydrostat seems to hesitate  and jump when moving.  It is full of fluid but should I drain and change it?  Should I do the same with the rear end?  This will mainly be used for snow plowing and garden work.  I have a sleeve hitch for it but need help figuring out a lift rod for it.  Either buy one or help making one.  Thanks for any help.  Bryan

If you haven't already, download the manual from our "Manuals" section. You can download 3 for free per day.  Do all the maintenance that it shows. I would change the fluid and filter. There may also be some adjustments to make. Good Luck, Rick

Here's a link to a PDF for building you own sleeve hitch. It includes dimensions for the lift arm:

http://gardentractor...attach_id=30100

Also in reference to "You can download 3 for free per day", that limit goes away if you become a Site Supporter. You can find out how to do that here:

http://gardentractor...er-memberships/

It's WELL worth it, and helps keep "The best danged GT forum on the net" running.

Yeah, but by the time you manage to do that, I've already picked up a 1/2 dozen :smilewink:
