Yes Alan, I'd almost bet the starter issues frustrated them enough to sell it & shed the grief. Good thing for you though!

You are second person in the last couple weeks with a bad OH16 starter.
most guys I know recommend buying complete replacements from DB electronics off ebay I think for about $60-70.

I just had a tec. starter blow the overday.. It was on my HH150. The clip came right off the end by the ring gear.. I heard something ping trying to start it.. In the snow I found the clip,, the cap,, and the return spring.. GOT LUCKY.. The starter is almost brand new,but it looks cheaply made That clip that holds it all togather looks like bailing wire.. I could bend it with my needle-nose
