Hello, I have a DB 917.57561 with a Continental AU 8 engine, my problem is that there is no carb linkage from the carb to the governor. If you have one could you tell me what size it is and is it a wire or a spring or both?

I can't help you with your David Bradley but we have quite a few guys that have them and hopefully one of them can answer your question. Welcome to GTtalk. You are only about 15 minutes away from us.

I will have to search my pics on my home 'puter, a friend had a DB with the Continental, he has since sold it but I may have snapped some under hood shots before it found a new home. I will try and remember to look tonight. Mean time... Welcome to GTtalk!!!

There's a DB guy in our club, but I think he was planning on "Snow-Birding" this winter. I'll see if I can get a hold of him & if he has any information

Until then, I found some DB info here David Bradley Garden Tractors No pics are quite close enough I fear, but the Assembly Manual is there.

Some pics, but they're mostly from the wrong side. http://photobucket.c...inental engine/

Did not even see this post but can tell you I have several Continental engines on my David Bradleys, mostly AU7b and AU8, I can take some pics and measurements for you here this weekend, have to remember remember where all the Continentals are in my DB collection. I know a couple are in use, good engines, and couple on the shelf (complete or close to it). I will post findings in this thread. Also, did you check under the plastic governor cap to see if the governor "wings" are there, those are commonly missing, and work like a flyball governor. Because if those are gone the governor isn't going to function even if hooked up.

I just found this site this morning so I'm a new guy. I have exactly the same DB Model as you and have been lucky enough to find the manuals an such for it. Attached are a couple of pics that I took for the "before" file. I'm hoping to work on it some as soon as I finish painting the living room, if you know what I mean. I do have the Continental AU* Manual and will try attaching it as well. If it doesn't work my email is 'buzsawyer53 at yahoo dot com'. Good luck and maybe you could post a few pictures of your machine?
