I had tons of work to get done today, so no going to see Dad today.  My brother did this morning, and Dad is a bit better still.  Now he's worrying himself about not being able to care for himself when he's sent home, but he'll likely improve a lot before they discharge him, plus I think his insurance will cover some home day care.  My niece skipped on us it looks like.  I think my oldest sister will go out there tonight, and Teresa may spend tomorrow night with her.  She wants to stay home rather than come to one of our homes.  Sure will be glad when Dad gets to a std room so he will have a phone.  No cell phones allowed in ICU even.  Problem is the hospital is crammed full, and std recovery rooms are full.  Nothing is ever simple.  Teresa is taking Mom to her normal Dr checkup tomorrow, and will take Mom to see Dad.  I have herd vet check in the morning & will last till noon.  I have so much to do, and stress levels are high!  We'll get through it though.

I hope all is well with the herd tomorrow.  As to the stress levels, I have no doubt you will do all right.  I hope your dad continues to improve well.

Just found out Dad has a new room.  He has a phone now too.  A bit late to be calling him, so I'll get hold of him in the morning.  Mom isn't sure if they had him up to walk or not, but if not, they will start tomorrow.  He's just walked a few steps in his room up to this point.  I finally got most of my herd records up to date for tomorrow's vet check, so no time to go visit him today.  Likely I'll have to miss visiting him tomorrow as well. So I'm glad I'll be able to call him.  I'll need to go up Wednesday, as he'll be ready for a shave again.   If they have some of the IV's out, he'll be able to shave himself.

Good to hear that, Daniel. I'm sure the room will help him feel better, too. It really stinks to be in ICU, feeling like everyone is watching you.

Good that they have moved him out of ICU. That'll be a load off his mind.

Hang in there Dan. Things will be much better soon.

Just spoke with Dad on the phone. He sounds better, but a little depressed. He's so bored, plus homesick. He's been up & walked the hall. Hardly eating anything yet, but improving. Teresa took Mom to her Dr checkup & then to visit Dad.  So good that he's in a room with a phone now.

3 or 4 days & they say he can come home.

Sounds like he is improving quite well.  I'm sure he is bored, the hospitals I've been it the TV programing left a lot to be desired and you can only chase the nurse's around the nurse's station so much. It really sounds like things are going better then you had expected.  The fun will be when he comes home and trying to hold him back from doing things, although I think his body will tell him quite a bit.  Hang in

I don't think he'll be wanting to work for a good while.  But as soon as he's able, it would do him good to putter in the shop a little, but that's down the road many days yet.  So far he's only eaten a little toast, as everything tastes like mud to him yet.  That'll change though.  I told him to try to eat even if it tastes like crap so his strength will return, but then he knows that already.  Just words of encouragement.  I hope to go see him tomorrow sometime.

Teresa just called after visiting with Dad.  The doctor came in while Teresa & Mom were there and they said they will likely send Dad home tomorrow!  That shocks me, as Dad has hardly eaten anything since the surgery.  He has no IV's at all now, so they are not giving him any nutrition with IV now.  Got me worried, but maybe it'll get him to eating just being at home.  I now what I'll be doing tomorrow...fetching Dad!

He looks pretty good though.  Here's a pic from Sunday.  He managed a few smiles.
