Daniel, I have been very lax about posting for several months. I was very sorry to learn of your Dad's health issues. When Linda and I were at your first Plow Day I did not have the privilege of talking to your Dad, but I did see him when we arrived. My prayers have already been sent for his recovery.

Yeah Grand, just where have you been hiding?  Missed you being on here.  How's Linda's ankle doing?

Daniel, thanks for asking about Linda. The wound is finally healed and she was released from the doctor's care about three months ago. She still needs to work on building up the strength in the ankle. It was over two years healing so it will just take some time.

Called Dad's nurse yesterday, and he was as she said, feeling "blah" yesterday, but doing ok medically.  Still holding gas in his abdomen, and we all know how great that feels.  In a couple hours I'm taking Mom up to visit Dad, then I'll take Mom out to dinner.  Dad always takes Mom to dinner either on Saturday or Sunday, so I'll fill in for Dad this go round.  Once Dad gets home, and till he can drive again, I guess I'll need to get some Chinese takeout to bring to them.  Mom chose Chinese today, so I'll get to see what she likes so I'll know what to get her then.

We visited with Dad a full hour today.  He was in good enough spirits, even smiled a few times, and once kind of chuckled, but he has to rein back chuckling, as it is painful.  He was real glad when I told him I was taking Mom out to dinner.  I knew that would make him feel good.  He's been worrying about Mom.  The phone company upgraded their TV cable box last week, and now the signal is so screwy she can't watch television.  I'll call the phone company in the morning....oh wait, I can call that in now!

Gave Dad a fresh shave & washed him up a bit around the neck & face.  Then I got his hat out & put on his head.  He felt "almost normal" he said when I did that.  It's gonna be a slow recovery, but I think he'll be fine.  His harder working days are past him though, but it may be hard to convince him of that.

Had a great dinner with Mom, but we all ate too much!

Good to hear he is doing better.  Yes the older you get the harder it is to recover or mend.  Glad to hear you all had a nice dinner.  I always eat to much Chinese but the thing is a couple of hours later your hungry again!

You just have to eat enough chinese that you feel like you are going to explode. Then you, to paraphrase mybigwarwagon, pass coffee out of your rear end. Then you feel good.

Daniel, even with all that has been going I have been thinking about you and your Dad.........sounds like he is on the right track to mending. It is always nice to be able to take Mom out to eat from time to time and take time to spend with her.  These are the moments that she WILL remember.  And as small as it seems, he will always remember you taking care of his shaving and bath duties while he was in the hospital............You are indeed a good son and it really shows!

Robert, next to Teresa, my Dad is my best friend.  He may not realize I feel that way, but he's always been there for me when I needed him.  Now it's my time to return all the favors.  My family wasn't one of hugs & kisses.  Don't get me wrong, Dad didn't beat us either, and very far from it.  But we just didn't show/say affection like some.  We do have the love though, and show it through other ways.  But Dad & Mom have heard a lot of "I love you's" lately for sure.
