Dad was fine this morning when Teresa took his day's meds out there, but he just called & is feeling really weak.  Guess it's a trip to Acute Care or the emergency room.  I'm at my wit's end.   :(

Oh boy, move fast and have him checked out.

Take a deep breath, shove all the other stuff to the side, think about what needs to happen and focus on that.

Bets of luck, will udder a prayer.

My sister & BIL just down the hill from me are taking Dad on into the ER to get him checked out real good.  This morning Dad did say Mom has been nagging him to death, and she literally must be, but she does her best not to let us see her in action.  Dad & Mom it would appear can't stay together any longer, but getting Dad to agree with that will be tough to impossible, no matter how bad she makes him feel.

I'll get tax work wrapped up, then see how Dad is doing.  Us kids MUST to get together & form an action plan of some sort!

Not easy a easy task for sure, mothers can be so bullheaded sometimes, refusing to change to the bitter end.

The more you push, the harder they push back.

I find that carefully placed words at the proper time can be effective sometimes, another thing you could try is to have each of you speak with her at different times throughout the week leaving a little time between for each speech to sink in.

One more thought is to remove your father to a friend's place for a while and leave you mother to her self.

Just thought, trying to help.

Go easy and be deliberate with your choices.

Sounds like Dad has found a refuge in the ER.  Momma gets to be to much go to the ER and sit for a while.  One thing to think about is before the surgery he would get out and work most of the day on the farm which gave him relief from Momma.  That is now gone and I think having to deal with her on a 24hr base is a bit to much for him.  Is he well enough to maybe ride along with you during the day?  We have some friends and the wife’s parents went through something similar.  After they sold the farm, in NC, he found he couldn't deal with momma all the time so every day he went to the cafe in town for breakfast and coffee with his buddies.  From what I hear it was a long breakfast... :rolling:  Any way could your Dad do something like that?

Bill, Dad hasn't been up to getting out hardly at all.  I have offered, but he always says it's just too much for him.  He said walking to get the paper  (100') pulls him down.   He may never pull out of this surgery, as infections keep him down, then there's Mom who pulls him down mentally.  No word from Wanda yet, but will likely be a long while before they know anything.

Too bad you can't get dad to make a recording of what is going on and then play it back for Mom to listen to.

I was thinking of the recording myself. Maybe when it is a bit warmer he can go sit on the porch or something to get a little time to himself.

Well, Dad said his urine bag had the fibrous looking crud in it, so that means his urinary tract infection has worsened, which is good reason to get him in the ER to be tested.  I was afraid to wait another day so he could get into his family doctor's office, as they were booked solid today.  My sister called from the ER waiting room, but the Dr hadn't seen him yet.

Man I'm sorry your having these issues. My wife and I have dealt with some of this with parents on both sides because everybody else moved away. What I've learned is that generation is gonna be the parent and do as they #$*& want to until they can't...that is when you have to be in as good of agreement with the other siblings as is humanly possible. When we had to make a decision without sibling approval, we tried to make the ones that I could look in the mirror to shave each day knowing I did what I felt was in the parents best interest, not necessarily my or my siblings pocket books.

Sending some prayers for all of you!

Got word they will be keeping Dad for tests as his blood count is half what it should be & they said he is losing blood somewhere.  Dad also didn't tell us he fell a couple days ago stepping down into the refurbed former carport which is now their main living room now.  He just gave up that info at the hospital.  I will wait to go see Dad tomorrow, as I hope I'll feel better then.  He hasn't gotten into a room yet.  My sister & BIL are going to stay up into the night with him.
